I fully agree with your's and Alexander's point of view. The default Invenio setup should be such that MARC indicators are treated in the least-surprising way. The best way to achieve this would be to create a couple of new demo records, covering various MARC indicator use cases, after which we could alter indexes/formats/etc and write test cases to ensure things are working as expected. Would you volunteer to provide some demo records for this purpose? Perhaps a Spanish or a German poem for the Poetry collection, or a book record for the Books collection, or maybe new records for a fully new collection of Manuscripts or something similar. A new demo collection may be the cleanest thing to do in order not to mix existing and new markup in already existing demo collections.
