There are a couple of steps involved here. One is the recreation of the
brief records, that in general should be automatic, but not when the
template is changed. Just run bibreformat --all, and wait until those
already formatted records are reloaded into the database. Monitor it
with bibsched.

I'd appreciate some feedback by the CERN developers about this
indicators policy in the default values of the software, because I think
it causes unnecessary trouble for new adopters.
Agree. One should at least point out deviations from Marc21 clearly. On
the other hand can expect that those indicators are prefilled according
to the standard as soon as foreighn data come into the syestem
especially if those data is not harvested by OAI or whatever.
It also happens in most
other formatters, not only HTML: Dublin Core, Refworks, EndNote, field
definitions, etc.
