I believe you will make a new track when you press the Heading key but not the Pause key. If you hit Heading while recording and then the Pause, you will get a track of the sound recorded between the two key presses. The machine is still recording after you hit the Heading key and until you hit Pause. I am thinking that it makes more sense to press Pause first. This should actually stop the recording. Then, while it is paused, you should be able to hit the Heading key. The new track should then pick up when you un-pause it without having the blank track. Keep in mind, please, that I have not done this myself. I have only pressed the Heading key at the end of each song while recording an album, that is, without pausing. If this doesn't do the trick, you might have to edit out the blank tracks. I wouldn't think this would be difficult to do, but I can see where it could get tedious.
