Andrew, I'm still just confused and so out of sorts on this stupid issue. I figured that if I had the thing on manual operation, or custom, or whatever it is called, that all I had to do to get one and one only track was to press the track button between songs on an album or cassette. Then I am told; no press the pause button and this will force a track. Because if you press the track button, sometimes you get two tracks--which has been my experience. So the other day I tried making a little CD of children singing for their father on Father's Day. I went from track to track using the pause button. It works most of the time. I got fourteen tracks on my cd; there were probably about eighteen numbers. This means that sometimes the pause button only pauses; sometimes it makes a new track. and what I need to know and am tearing my remaining hair out over is this: how do I get one track and one only and only one when I want one only.
If this sounds just a little frantic--well, it probably is. Good day to you all. It's probably the longest day of the year, June 21.
