To both Steve and Andy:

Many thanks fellows for setting both myself and the record straight. As I
read what Steve wrote, it all came back to me. I've been using xp since the
spring of 2002, and have, consequently, ever since that time, been invoking
notepad every time I click on a file with a "txt" extention, irrespective of
the file size.

Of course, from Phil Parr's standpoint, the relevant consideration is that
he has the ability to open a Plextalk user's manual file on his computer to
search for information on the topic of interest. (I take it that if Phil is
using windows 98 SE, clicking on a file with a "txt" extention over a
certain size will invoke wordpad.) However, the "searching" instructions I
posted earlier are specific to notepad. I never use wordpad, so don't know
the particular keyboard commands in that environment.

Again, many thanks for clarifying things.

John
