Okay; great; that just means that irrespective of which program is invoked
(notepad or wordpad), the instructions I gave will work. Actually, I didn't
bother to read the message header at the time Phil asked his most recent
question, and I posted those instructions in the belief that I was writing
to him directly as we have had some off-list cyber-spondence.

Take care!

John

Hi John,

Actually, the instructions will work with both Notepad and Wordpad, as I
have just tried them myself on a file.

Hth.

To both Steve and Andy:

Many thanks fellows for setting both myself and the record straight. As
I read what Steve wrote, it all came back to me. I've been using xp
since the spring of 2002, and have, consequently, ever since that time,
been invoking notepad every time I click on a file with a "txt"
extention, irrespective of the file size.

Of course, from Phil Parr's standpoint, the relevant consideration is
that he has the ability to open a Plextalk user's manual file on his
computer to search for information on the topic of interest. (I take it
that if Phil is using windows 98 SE, clicking on a file with a "txt"
extention over a certain size will invoke wordpad.) However, the
"searching" instructions I posted earlier are specific to notepad. I
never use wordpad, so don't know the particular keyboard commands in
that environment.

Again, many thanks for clarifying things.

John
