The only way to cut down virus and spam activity is to stop all free email accounts, ban AOL and other companies from sending out disks with 'free 1 month trails' (should be done anyway for landfill's sake) and then force anyone who is acting as an ISP to use proper anti-virus and spam mail screening. Demon has just done this by using Brightmail and my extra load has gone down drastically to almost zero. You will not be able to stop it all but so little of it will get through it will cease to be viable.Agreed re. the actions. While it's possible, it will continue to happen. Until (a) it's not possible, or (b) the punishment is extreme and totally punitive this will probably continue to happen. Any force for potential good such as the web and email will probably always have its darker side. Will be nice to have email on the QL where these pesky PC/Mac viruses can't run!
