The instructions Bruce gave me are on my website and seem to be just like
the old majordomo ones, where if you put anything in the subject line it
prevents it being interpreted as a mailing list command, and was one of the
reasons why people had difficulty unsubscribing in the past, when
unsubscribe emails kept appearing on the list and people (not reffering to
you) didn't understand why it didn't work and took the hump when politely
told they'd not read the instructions properly. If your message worked,
Bruce's current list must be more forgiving than the old one and less strict
than the instructions imply, unless he's manually catching the ones that
resemble commands.

It does seem odd that the commands have to be in the message body, given
that some mailers are set up to add automatic signatures such as "no virus
in this email mate", at first glance at least it does seem as though it
would be easier and less prone to problems if mailing lists like this worked
off single commands in the subject line, although it would probably limit
you to single commands in this case.

OK, off to pick up the rattle I just threw out of the pram....
