You ppear to have pin-pointed the the problem ! Pun intended. So more than just reinserting go a bit harder at it. Chip pins need a good abrade with a typewriter rubber, support them well to keep alignment. Any other contacts that you can possibly rub in any way you can before replacing all with a generous use of switch cleaner.
