it is bogomips test in Linux, usefull only for calibrating delay loops.
Fast enough for most applications, even compiling linux 2.4 kernels 
works.

it boots pretty fast, it can't get any faster because the IDE disks need
some seconds to spin up and there are still people with rather old disks
around. It is possible to patch the ROM to wait shorter for modern drives.
