Of course. I wasn't there, but a journalist friend of mine was. He showed me the glossy spiel, and I ordered a QL there and then.
Hi QL'ers
Time is moving so fast those days!
On January 12th 1984 (exactly 12 days earlier than Steve Jobs lauched the Apple Macintosh) Sir Clive Sinclair presented the QL professional computer to the world in a hollywood-style event at the Intercontinental Hotel, Hyde Park Corner, London. Today, 20 years later we (the QL-community) congratulate to the QL's 20th birthday and celebrate!
Do you remember?
It arrived late May.
Similarly it introduced me to _real_ computing and programming.
I remember well as the QL changed my life in many aspects. Summarized I mean it changed it in very positive way. I would say that without the QL and its technology I would not be at the business position I am today...
It also was my main income from about 1986 to 1994.
The work I do now for http://wn.com is a direct result of the programming grounding I got with the QL.
I even got a great deal of income in the late 80s to mid 90s database programming in Archive (and latterly Arcplus). This was on the PC of course, but the QL was the catalyst for that programming, and indeed the Arcplus program.
