It's easy, the crypt the password (I posted a perl routine for this a few
days ago) and store it as

UserPassword: {crypt}cryptedpassword

This part was contributed, I memory serves me right by Mike Jackson. My
guess is he just used Perl's MD5 module or a command line md5.

Normally you'll write a webinterface for this. The most of us have such an
interface, and nearly all are very different due to the deep integration
with our backends.
