Henning is correct. Further, qmail doesn`t "apply semantics that arn`t
supported". Please don`t make things up or speculate.
He just hasn`t explained why.
Standard linux`s filesystem buffers a lot of stuff, which is why it
appears fast.
The downside is...if there is a hardware induced crash or loss of power
then all that buffered data will be lost.
There is nothing qmail, postfix or sendmail can do about that.
You may have heard of async and sync before. Look them up (ie. search)
