VM or hard iron?
I'm getting this failure on COS5.5 VMware guest.
COS5.4 VMware guest is ok though. Hmmm.
Given the error, sorta feels like a problem with fuse-unionfs.

All other packages appeared to build without any problems. This
system has had all of it's yum updates and has been rebooted.
Ideas, please?

I've recreated this error on CentOS 5.5. Which distro/version are
you getting this with?
