Now I'm not a big fan of Doug Hendricks in general. I feel he can be very patronizing, etc. A lot of long-time school teachers treat everyone that way. But I was REALLY surprised to see the President of QRP-ARCI rip into him after the announcement of the new NC2030 kit on the GQRP list.

Hi all,

Limiting the run number to 200 is a great marketing ploy.
And getting the money up front even better. The customers
pay for the parts before the bags of parts are put together.

The 'feeding frenzy' generated by 'I must have one before
my mate gets his' is wonderful for the seller.

He gets to know how many parts to order, what his projected
sales are to be and, dare I say it; if he gets lots more than
200 orders he does another run of 200.

Great marketing Doug, just wish I had thought of it with Kanga.

Interesting take for the President of QRP ARCI, who I would think would be more encouraging. I think all the clubs generally take orders before putting together the kits. It only makes sense when you have a club thing, and don't maintain an inventory like a company might.
