Interesting take for the President of QRP ARCI, who I would think would be more encouraging. I think all the clubs generally take orders before putting together the kits. It only makes sense when you have a club thing, and don't maintain an inventory like a company might.
Well,,, it's a little odd that there would be all the "hype" - see the announcement on QRP-L before the Sunday NorCal meeting. Then came the added "hype" that this transceiver is the best thing since sliced bread. See the subsequent posts on QRP-L.
Then came the announcement that only 200 would be made available - ever. At least from NorCal.
Why all the hype for a 200 kit run? If there's no interest in making very many, and no profit motive, why not just offer it quietly to 20-30 local members of NorCal and be done with it?
I'll agree it wasn't immoral, illegal, or fattening--but there are over 2000 members of QRP-L and a similar number on GQRP. Why chum the water into a frenzy then pull the plug?
