W,

I beg to differ with you. Although I haven't lived in Tx since I was 20, I was raised there. About 8 yrs ago, I decided I wanted to return. The only city I considered was Austin, as it is much more progressive than most, in terms of music, accessibility and tolerance. My job search ended abruptly when I discovered that as a licensed counselor, with a Master's degree, I would earn what a person in Ohio earns with only an Associate's degree. So, not only would I have to take a 40% paycut, but the cost of living is about 40% higher than in Ohio. Yes, AUstin is an expensive city to live in, however the Social Services are funded by the State. So the pay would be equivalent all over Tx.

Texas has a very poor record of funding it's social services. In fact Texas is piloting a program which would drastically cut it's services to the severely mentally disabled population. Keith perphaps you can speak more intelligently about this than I. Another startling statistic about Texas is that Tx has on it's death row a large percentage of inmates with mental illness and developmental disabilities.

I'm glad that you mentioned that before I could as it has much more meaning
coming from you.
Before George Bush was a Republican, he was a Texan and "Once A Texan...
Always A Texan"
George Bush has never forgotten that he was a Texan, even as a Republican.
Today, Texas reflects the very best in schools, universities, and colleges.
People like Bob Kafka (ADAPT) and the late Justin Dart (Father of ADA). It
therefore reasons that Texas should be leading the country in its observation of
being the best, by providing the most to its citizens. That is why most
Texans will vote Republican this next election, because Texans will vote for the
person who said that he was a Texan before he was a Republican.

They have become increasingly radical and unreasonable.
They are now the party of able-bodied, heterosexual, protestant Christian,

of these categories then please think carefully before you cast your ballot for
a Republican.
