So the great dude Greg is ... he gave me his old one for parts!

Fortunately I have not had to resort to that yet but thanks again Greg.

The weather today down here south of you was quite a bit cooler here than
the last several wonderful days near 80°... But I guess we are spoiled
compared to the rest of the country ... eh Greg?

I had a Permobil Chairman years ago. I loved it. I loved all of the features
but it was little things I liked most. The swing away armrests and the way
the chest/trunk supports worked. I do wish it was faster. That was the only
reason I did not go for another one. I like my TDX5, but it’s just not as
smooth. Greg

I have had my Permobil Chairman since 1999 and I also have the three
features that you have. IF the next chair that I choose will be a Permobil.
. I will get the seat elevator also. That has been the most difficult
problem when trying to change the batteries. I have to be out of the chair
(and for me... that means in bed) while my husband takes it to the vendor
and takes God knows how long to get that done. Factoring in that they have
to order the batteries to begin with.

I am keeping a list of all the chairs that other people are happy with but I
am so used to the Permobil now that I am leery about changing. But for many
vendors... The Permobils are not a "common chair" to work on so that is a
problem also and a good one to consider.

The other feature that has been the greatest problem for me is the height
compared to the two other wheelchairs I have had since my injury. No matter
how much they lowered it when I first got it... I still have a problem
fitting under tables, can barely see out of my van windows to enjoy a drive,
etc. etc. Etc..

I do not know whether this is a fluke or not but besides myself... I have
learned of about three other people on this list who have had more back pain
with their Permobils. But I really do not know if it is the chair or my
body. I had the vendors come back three different times to put more
cushioning in the back but it is nowhere close to being as comfortable as my
old Fortress Scientific wheelchair that I had for 12 years prior to this one

Is this your first Permobil?

Hooooooray!

Not sure if any of you guys have seen or tested the latest chair from
Permobil, but its nice.
I ordered my c-350 corpus in December and just delivered it. It comes
with many options
I opted for the tilt, recline, and foot elevator. You can also get the
seat elevator. There
are three things I told the lady OT who helped me pick the chair out:
(1)It had to ride smooth
(2)It had to have a low seat to floor height and (3) IT HAD TO BE
SEXY!!! I'll try to put some
picks of it up on myspace in the next few days. We'll see how well it
holds up to the amount
of college campus miles I'm gonna put on it.
