Gentlemen, I've got Apple Multiple Scan 1705 Display, for use with my Quadra-950 machine (formerly equipped with an ancient Apple Performa monitor).
Previous owner was a "PC person", so display comes with PC-style SVGA cable (hi-density DB-15 triple row) on both ends. To connect it to the Q950, I've used a universal adapter made by ViewSonic, and in general, it works relatively good, but I've noticed some picture distortion, especially remarkable on small-sized italic fonts like aliases' labels. IMHO, this problem is caused by adapter design: I've found that all the "signal ground" lines are soldered together (!), so I'm thinking about building my own cable. The problem is, that I'm unable to find exact pinout for that monitor. The service manual (multiple_scan_1705_display.pdf) seems to be removed from everywhere, but maybe someone can provide me with full wiring schematic of Mac cable? The second question: User Guide (0308890AMS1705UG.pdf) document refers to the included 'Display Software', but it's not clear to me whether that software is of any use for Q950 running MacOS v7.6.1? Is it some kind of 'driver', or just ColorSync profile and/or ControlStrip modules, similar to ones that are already contained in MacOS?
