On my clutch and I think the silver top is similar, the flywheel is
from the 1800 Zetec and the clutch plate and pressure plate came from
Q. However when i replaced the slipping plate I couldn't get a clutch
plate with the same lining thickness - from memory it was about 2 mm
thicker. (I didn't hunt too hard, but Q said they had tried and had
bought a batch of plates that should work!!) I remember taking all the
measurements and internal clearances at the time with both plates
fitted and comparing the two. I ended up packing the pressure plate
off the flywheel using washers (one per position), to keep the
'fingers' in a decent operating range and then put the engine in,
tightened the bellhousing and attached the cable. I can't remember
the exact scenario next but I think the arm was too far froward and
hit the side of the bell housing when pressing the clutch, after
consulting Paul at Q who had had a similar problem, the solution was
to bend the arm. I measured how much bend I needed, removed the
engine and arm and bent it in a hydraulic press. It has worked fine
since with absolutely no issues.

Obviously the best way may well be to buy a pressure plate and clutch
plate assy that are compatible, but as my PP was new I didn't want to
by another new one.
