Interestingly on my latest car insurance renewal they have updated the driving other cars not owned or hired clause so that it now includes the line
"Providing the other car is already insured on a different policy" Not sure if this is an industry change or just our insurer. Will try getting a quote to see what they say for short term insurance as per Jim's suggestion.
