The actual Spectrum out provides a 12-band (I think) spectrum... you can use
a structure index to get access to access those values, and get more
specificity. At that point, you may want to use a smooth patch to get the
effect of an audio limiter/compressor, and to keep your image looking
"non-spastic".

In addition to this, there is a Kineme Audio plugin that provides even more
specific frequency info. Again, you will likely want to be smoothing the
resulting data until your visuals start "pumping" to the music. I don't know
if you have experience with audio compression, but it would be similar to
setting up a compressor so that you get that "breathing" sound (except that
we're talking numbers here, not sound). Then your "cubes" (or whatever) will
start looking like they're locked to the music.
