wavetable died on both my computers the other day, so it's not completely
reliable. But if this is a relatively new computer it should work if nothing
else does.

Those are the midi ports and/or synths on that computer. If the first one
didn't play, did you try any others? You simply select another port,
press enter to leave the dialog and press play again.
The Microsoft synth, though not very nice, will almost be garonteed to
play. Have you yet tried any of the other ports?
In situations such as these, it is necessary to very simply, do it till it
works. Nothing else for it. If you don't, you will never know. The
computer cannot take the initiative for you, so you must take it for
yourself.

I had my brother launch QWS, and then open song001. He hit the spacebar,
and it did not play. We did alt+enter. It shows channel 1. He has four
ports, and here they are:
sb x-fi
sb x-fi synthe[c0
sb x-fi midi port [e
microsoft gs wavetable
Qws was pointing to the first choice. I don't know if that is the
default.
Let me know if there is something else I need to supply.

Hi. Does any other media player play anything? With XP comes a terrible
sounding thing known as the Microsoft synth. Does even that not play
anything?
When you open the midi, you say there are 0 items. Do you mean 0 tracks?
0 ports shown for playback?
If 0 ports are shown, where are they not shown? When you do alt enter
on a midi track in qws and press alt R or tab to the port box, is
anything listed?
I hate to ask questions with even more questions, but you were
unfortunately a little too vague so help us, and we'll help you if at all
possible. Thanks.

Hello,
As you can probably tell, I am new to the list.
I am trying to help my brother get qws going. He has a new computer
with XP. He has an integrated sound card (which he says he has
disabled), and a Sound Blaster X FI. He says when he opens up a midi,
he has 0 items. I have something like 19 choices. When he presses
the space bar, nothing happens.
Any help would be appreciated.
