If there is no port specified when QWS starts it assumes the default system
port. However, once set natively from within QWS itself there is no way to
set it back to the system default port variable without deleting or
nullifying the value of the "defport" key in qws.ini.

Actually, it's not. Sure, it sets the default MIDI device for use within
QWS, but there is no value in there which will set QWS to honour the default
system port variable.
