Hi, this should work.
1. Make a blank track with no settings, not even channel.
2. Turn on the metronome, f4.
3. Start recording, wait for the count-in, then press your SysX send button
on the device you are sending from. Record for a good 8 bars or so, just
in case the message is rather long. Have seen some extremely long SysX
messages in my time.
4. Save as SysX file.
5. Reopen the file.
6. Investigate the event editor to see if your data is as expected.
Hopefully that'll do something for you.

Hello,
how can I record SysEx messages to a track? I have a track, in wich I
want to change the (initial) voice, panning, detune etc. settings I made
for a single voice or dual layer. When I record the playing, sometimes
the program changes include those messages. Though, I cannot change the
settings afterwards. By now, I tried both in normal Record mode and Step
Recording to do a program change without playing a note. I tried a voice
bulk dump and a panel settings bulk dump the same way either, neither of
those possibilities solved the problem. As I do not know a safe method
to record SysEx, I cannot tell if QWS 1.55 receives the SysEx that way
at all. What is more, I am not really experienced with the MIDI Bulk
Dump functions, I just tried to understand that those settings can send
the voice settings to another MIDI machine, but I did not find out how
they are received by QWS. MIDI In Dialogs are enabled in the Options,
and as for program changes they work.
Setup:
QWS 1.55
Windows XP ProSP3
JAWS 11.0
Yamaha P-250 Electronic Piano (XG compatible) connected via USB.
Best regards,
Arne
