The only time a synth needs MIDI clock is when it has a built in sequencer you want to sync to the main sequencer. (In this case, QWS) A device is either a master or slave, and there is some dancing around determining which device works better as the master. (For example, an ADAT BRC is most often the master for everything when it's involved because it makes a good master but a poor slave)

Wow, that cleared up what midi clock was. So, it keeps multiple devices in sync. So I would only use it when synths aren't following each other. It doesn't sound like I'll be using it much then. Normally i only use one synth at a time, and I'm careful about making sure measures and tempo don't get too out of sync. If I have the above problem when I venture to include multiple synths, i'll try and see if it helps. If not i'll just have to do as best I can without.
