The tutorial about note editor is the third one, and it talks a lot about
setting lengths, and how to use snap and memorize, which I think is what you
need if you want to work, for example, with triplets.

The note editor is still a very gray area for me, as I'm still not sure
how
to do much in it. I suspect that's a part of the documentation that could
use a bit more explanation, as I've read it twice now and some of it (well
most of it) still sails by me. Of course, I'm so used to the Sequencer
Plus
Edit window and its functions that it may be a problem of misaligned
expectations.

Hi,
You can use the note editor for this. And the set length tool can help
here
too.

I'd like to be able to set lengths to something larger than a quarter

I guess I could change the time signature and go that route, but I'd
like another way if possible.

Hi,
You can't use decimals. But, I don't really see the need. If you
quantize to a quarter note, that should be good enough to get your
notes where they should be. If it doesn't help much, then something is
definitely wrong.
There is some editing in order.
Going further, the only problem I see with the quantize functions is
that if you try to quantize to 9, it sometimes doesn't work properly,
because 192/9 is not an even number. But I rarely if ever need to do
that, and if I do, I'll just play with things to get it right. Has
anyone been on this road before?

Okay, here's a little question I have about the quantize, quantize
note length, and set note length options in QWS.
Will.5 give me quantization to the half note? How about .25 to set
quantization or note length to whole notes? And if so will .33 give
me quantization to a dotted half note, so I can fill a 3/4 bar with a
note?
I'm dealing with some early music and this is becoming something I
need to work with.
Thanks for any enlightenment y'all can provide.
