It's how you get audio in and out of the computer, for things like recording.

Well, I have the USB to MIDI adapter. What is an audio interface?

Whether or not you get that module, definitely try Proteus on your

miss.
As far as hooking up the Triton module to your computer, since the
module is an older machine that probably doesn’t use USB, you’ll need a midi
interface and a five pin din midi cable. If you have an audio interface, it
may already have a midi interface built into it, and if that’s the case you
could just use that with a midi cable. If not, Yamaha and Roland make midi to
USB interfaces that, if I’m not mistaken, are fairly inexpensive.

Also, you were asking about instrument list earlier I believe. Either
of the Proteus VX Instrument lists will work, though the one that has cat in
the name is set up so you can navigate by instrument categories: for example,
you can press P repeatedly to navigate through all the pianos, L repeatedly to
navigate through the synthesizer lead patches, etc.

I am truly sorry for bothering this list with all of my difficulties. I
have a Win 7 machine and will probably try this, using Yoke as the cable.

I have an alternate which was just offered me. It's a Triton Rack. I
successfully used that some years ago. If that instrument still works, I'd like
to use it.

Question is how to connect it to my computer. I can use my keyboard as
a controler by connecting it to my computer, but how do I send the output of
the computer to the Triton. I suspect there's an intermediary program needed
here.

This has been a truly frustrating experience for me, and perhaps those
on this list.

Well good to know. Maybe I won’t be updating to windows 10
anytime soon if I can’t run that on it. Of course, if anybody else has gotten
Proteus VX to work on windows 10, please chime in. I’ve heard that windows 10
is a huge pain in the neck as it is, as Microsoft keeps updating and changing
things all over the map. The only thing I can think for you to do, Joe, is the
try running Proteus VX on an older computer if you have one. It runs well on
my Windows 7 PC, which is mostly what I use for work with QWS. Sadly, my
Windows 8 machine barely works anymore; it had to travel a lot with me while I
was in college, and with all the shaking and jostling it took in my backpack,
it seems to have developed motherboard issues.

Seth, I tried this and there was nothing about running as
administrater. I am running Win 10 and it may be different from your OS.

I still can make Proteus VX run because of problems with audio
drivers. When I did a search for this program, I found various versions. Maybe
I got the wrong one. I'm floundering around here and sinking.

Someone just offered me a Triton Rack. If it still works, that
would bail me out of this.

I can send instructions from the controler to the computer, but
how would I connect the computer to the MIDI In on the Triton?

Joe, have you tried running it as administrator? I had
some problems with this on my Windows 8 machine if I remember correctly. It
gave me an error first time I opened it, so what I did was went into the
context menu, (press your applications key or right click the mouse), and
chose run as administrator, and it worked.
