I think this is a very important point. I don't think enough people agree  
on the REPL semantics to warrant any defining or standard semantics for  
the REPL in Thing One. Maybe we could have differing models standardized  
for reference and easy discussion, but nonetheless, I don't think they  
need to be standardized the way people want, because someone is going to  
be very unhappy if their REPL is forced to changed from their old behavior.
