Hi all,

My name is Jon, and I'm here to volunteer to write some documentation.

I've had a brief exchange of emails with Anders about it, and so I've seen
the existing, albeit old documentation. Writing documentation is something
I can do well, whereas coding isn't, which is why I choose documentation
writing as a way to contribute to open source projects.

I envisage the documentation being quite similar in format to what currently
exists. I have a few questions for the dev team about the implementation:

- How do you want to present the documentation?
Will it accompany the software, and if so, in what format?
Or will it be purely online, with a link from within rawstudio?

- I think it would be a good idea to get documentation prepared for 2.0,
ready to release with that
  When is 2.0 expected (roughly)?

Since I'm introducing myself and offering my help, I may as well give my few
comments on the usability / features of rawstudio. Firstly, I think
rawstudio has some very good features:
- It's very responsive
- Due to the usability it is easy to tweak images, and compare the effects
- The photographer's workflow is streamlined, the software does not get in
the way

But I believe there are a couple of small usability issues:
- The default behaviour of setting the white balance when the image is
clicked is confusing
To conform to common practice, it would make sense to have this toggled
with a button / keystroke
- Simple zooming
Currently only possible to zoom to 100%, or zoom to fit.
Graduated zooming with (for example) CTRL+mouswheel is the common, and
very quick and easy.
Clicking and dragging with the left mouse button when zoomed in should
drag the image around.

The above comments are about usability and intuitiveness, this final one is
my own personal feature request.
- Reduce to B&W
It would be great to be able to reduce to black and white, and vary the
RGB being used to do so.
This would allow photographers to, for example, produce a B&W image
dominated by the red channel
This is the equivalent of using lens filters, or DSLR lens filter effects.

All comments welcome.

Cheers

Jon :-)
