Javier,

Thanks. Hmmm. Windows Defender is turned off already.

What other Windows program would give a message?

Jan,

You should have only Vipre prompt you for a scan; it looks like you have the
Windows Defender turned on. Having two anti-virus always creates problems
and Vipre strongly warns against using another anti-virus when Vipre is
enabled.

To disable, go to Control Panel>>Windows Defender and turn it off.

To permanently disable Windows Defender at startup. Click on Windows logo on
the lower left corner and in the “Search programs and files” box type
“msconfig” (minus quotes). Go to the third tab “Services” and click
on the “Services” header to sort by name. Find “Windows Defender”
and likely it will say “stopped” under Status. Click on the check mark
to remove it and then click Apply. Next time you re-start your computer,
Windows Defender will not be loaded.

Javier,

Nothing specific. But an observation is when I plug in a USB drive, I get the
message from Vipre "Do you want to scan for viruses" but then I also get a
message from Windows asking "Do you want to scan for viruses". So I think
I'm double covered and can't figure out how to disable windows.

Jan,

What issues are you having? I also use Vipre and I have not noticed any
problems; although my experience is based on my local computers running
Win7-Pro, Win XP-Pro and Win Vista. The only time I see a slowdown is when
the daily scan takes place; this is why is scheduled for 4:00 AM.

Have you added a list of extensions you want Vipre to ignore? This is pretty
much the first thing I check (regardless of antivirus) when clients are
having problems with the system slowing down.

We are using the latest Vipre Antivirus 2013, version 6.9.5449.

Ok.

I'm still having challenges with the security settings.

Where are they in Windows 7? I can see that I have windows security

and Vipre running and it is just causing me grief.
