(if only I could get our company to buy it...) this year.
Thanks for the invite though. I was there in spirit.

Dan,
>From a personal experience, I will be MORE than happy to tell your boss that
you will bring back MUCH more information that it costs. It's just like the
time we spend on the list giving and receiving advise and ideas. It takes
time and resources, but the knowledge, and insight we give and get is
invaluable. I certain any number of participants on this list can give you
the same type of examples, and ideas they have received.
When you get the conference CD, review David Blocker and Karen Tellef's
presentation on inputing and order picking with a wireless barcode system. I
remember it because a number of months ago, we had some discussions on the
list about barcoding. David, Karen, and another gentleman whose name escapes
me (red face), did a GREAT implementation on it, and if you're in
manufacturing and use or generate barcodes, they have done a very nice job on
their implementation. When I look at the work that their basic information
would cost to aquire, my guess is it's about 5 to 10 thousand, and they gave
it as a presentation for the benefit of the people there.
Those kind of numbers make the cost of the conference, rooms, meals, and
travel time look VERY cheap as opposed to developing the information on your
own.
As always, this is IMHO, but it's the reason I take the time and money to
attend myself.
Sincerely,
Damon
