This is very good, and it's good to see it confirmed in the more mainstream
press.

But I still question the "vibrations make tires feel fast." At least, I've
never felt that, though I can certainly feel the difference between, say, a
Parigi Roubaix or an Elk Pass and a Kojak, and a Kojak and, say, the old
Avocets of similar size and tread (or lack thereof). Is this (vibration
felt as speed) a very common phenomenon?

For me, the "sense of speed" has always been torque versus cadence in well
known conditions, that is to say, you can maintain a faster cadence in a
given gear for given conditions -- which is why the Furious Freds, for
example feel fast, despite the knoblets giving a vibration that actually
makes the tire feel slower. (I find myself, for example, pushing a 74" gear
on the flats with the FFs instead of the 70" or lower I would favor with
even Liteskin Big Apples.
