Proof of concept: 50” gear only up and back (I’ve done this a number of times, figured I’d repeat it today, as I know more now than any of my previous times). Great ride. Concept I keep coming back to is while I may spin like crazy at 25 mph, I’m what, two and a half minutes slower down a 30 minute extended run than with a 65-70” gear? That’s a lazy gear sift, so I make it up by not changing gears. Grin.
Thus, option 1A with the WI proprietary cog is looking promising. Ride the 50” gear 90% of the milage. Swap the cog, adjust chain length trail side at the extended harder/steeper trails. For the long descents, flip/flop to the 50” freewheel and coast like a lazy fool. Grin. This is simple and solid, with the ability to choose a good spot to take more time to shift when I need a wee break anyroad. Grin. This is the plan, unless I find a threaded fixed side, near new eccentric ENO. I’ll likely start looking at the end of the month. Thanks all for your help!
