Yes, the traditional explanation for the obesity epidemic is that people are
stupid, lazy, and eat too much.

There's something to that, but I tend to think there is much more to it as
well, including bad government policy/subsidies, bad science, and a
horrendously profitable franken-food industry.

People have mentioned Michael Pollen's books, and I can't say enough good
things about them.  I'd also add "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary
Tabues as another must read for those interested in the same topics.
