Patrick,

I will have to dig up the drawing for the ST angle - I am not sure off
the top of my head. I think most of the ugly threadless stem/headset
setups are because so many of the stems come in ugly finishes. I
think matte black looks (generally) terrible on bikes - especially in
the areas that I expect to see polished chrome/stainless/alloy. MORE
POLISHED THREADLESS STEMS, PLEASE!!!

The Brooks is a little forward on its rails, it's just what ended up
being comfortable - this is the first bike I have ever had moustache
bars on, so it was a bit of a guess on stem length, if I ever bother
to switch it out for a shorter one, I will slide the saddle back - for
now it's comfortable.

The curved stays are just something he (josh muir at frances cycles)
does on a lot of his bikes - I think it's just an aesthetic move. I
like them, but I doubt they do anything significant to road shock; the
fat-ish tires this bike was designed for are much more effective than
any relieved stay will ever be!

Bill - the fender was not effective once I got up over 14mph or so - I
recently changed it out to a full size satin aluminum VO fender. I
may crop it again, because I like the look - but it needs to be a good
6" or so longer than the fender in the picture. If I had it to do
over again, I would probably consider horizontal dropouts so that
removing a wheel for a tire change wasn't so hard. That said, I
haven't had a flat yet on this bike. The Rivendell Jack Brown tires
are awesome in that regard - ditto for the ruffy tuffy tires which I
have used on a few long tours and never had a flat!

Ryan - I have been riding fixed gear bikes for 14 years and my knees
have never complained (knock on wood), even my days of brakeless
riding/skidding in NYC.

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone!

Roberto
