Love it! I'm a social worker and am often reminded of something my graduate internship supervisor said to me--"Don't argue with crazy people, you'll lose every time." I don't think it's crazy to want to take the time to want to attach flaps, fenders or other items to your bike in the manner your most comfortable with.
