This reminds me of the guy who built a robotic sentry gun (wasn't mounted on a tank, but he used an air-soft replica of an FN p90). It was webcam controlled and fully autonomous -- complete with target tracking. What was cool about it, was since he used a 1:1 scale replica of a real weapon, the real gun could be "dropped in" to the setup at any time, yet it was still legal. The last I heard, this kid was hired by the Department of Defense and is (I assume) developing similar things for them.
