Although we catalog almost exclusively in RDA, we add GMD post-export to non-book materials because the librarians want that information in the short-line displays of the initial hit lists and our current-generation ILS does not presently have the ability to generate functionally equivalent strings from 33X. One of the things we will be considering in looking at new-generation ILSs (e.g., Alma, Sierra) is their capacity to fully exploit the additional RDA fields for purposes of indexing and front-end display.
