This may be far fetched but I have encountered good voltage & low amperage =
no amperage from solar arrays that baffled me on T/S on others systems &
ultimately:

We had voltage & low output amperage to no amperage.

Turns out there was a junction box that had been forgotten about in the
crawl space with never tightened split bolts that were crispy black from
arcing.

There was enough contact for voltage readings & not enough for any amps to
flow.

Double check all connections?

Charger Limit is also set to 30 amps. We tried raising the total AC input limit
to max and that may have helped increase the chargeby 200-300watts up to 4.8kw
but thats it. By my math we should be able to see about 6KW+/- of charging
power.

We are using Generator input mode I believe. We will try switching to Support
mode and see if that helps.

By the way batteries are 8- Simpliphi 3.8.

What is the charger ac limit set to?

Hi Amos,

What input mode are you using?

Try switching to "support" mode and see if the charging current increases.

Hello wrenches,

We just installed an GS8048a Radian build with Mate 3SL controller (no Optics).
We are having some with charging from the generator, as the generator charging
seems to be limited to about 4500Watts +/- (20amps AC) when charging through
the Radian. It is a Kohler 8.5RES generator and we have the AC input limit set
to 30amps and the Gen input set to 30amps. The house load is only about
200Watts when we are charging. The system is at 2200ft of elevation, but I
don’t know if that makes enough of a difference.
The Gen output voltage seems pretty good and holds around 234V-236V while
charging.

Any thoughts as to why it may be limiting would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Amos
