If you have one, simply partition your new drive when you boot from
the CD into 5 partitions (save one for 10.5) by choosing Disk Utility
from the Installer menu, making sure you choose a HFS+ Non journaled
File System.
Mmm. I partitioned using a Mac OS Extended journaled format yesterday
and I don't think I can see a HFS+ option, only Mac OS Extended. Is
this the same and what difference does it make? Looking at the
partition options in Panther, I also see Unix File System and Free
Space but not HFS+.
Mac OS Extended is another name for HFS+.
Mac OS X versions prior to 10.4 may have issues with journaled file
systems, but I'm not positive.
Journaled file system supported was added in 10.4
