Dana - you mentioned consolidation - which is a very good thing. As is the push thing. Now just go one step further and write something to catch, filter and route our emails back into your "consolidated" centralised system and we'll all be happy and the result will be even better than before.
Another thing to consider is reducing the number of different sections in the forum. The more sections there are, the less likely anyone is to be monitoring and responding to them all.
