My first computer program was punched cards on an IBM 1620 at U. of Connecticut in 1964. It was in FORTRAN though. I didn't get to BASIC until about 5 years later using a teletype in Virginia connected to a mainframe somewhere in Wash. D.C. It ran at 300 baud. We got an upgrade to 1200 baud and we could not believe a typewriter could type that fast!!
