Note that there isn't really any significant problem with upgrading the
kernel on your own, as long as you stay within the 2.0 series.  You might
as well download the kernel source patch yourself (assuming the patch will
apply properly to Redhat's kernel, I know they made some changes to it),
upgrade from the 2.0.32 to the 2.0.33 and compile it yourself.  If your
connection is fast enough or you are patient enough you can download the
whole kernel source (which is about 40MB, I believe) and have a pristine
one.

Going to 2.1 is a little more complicated and requires that you manually
(i.e. not RPM) upgrade a couple of the packages that come with redhat. 
(Although not very many).
