You should be able to go to KDE Control Center, SYSTEM, FONT INSTALLER, and then point the system to where the fonts live - and follow through with the installation of the fonts from there - that's what I did - and use the fonts happily with KDE and the likes...but not knowing what version of KDE you've got, I'll assume that you can follow the above procedure and get the results you desire.
