It's like developing a fighter pilot.  As Tom Wolfe said, "It can blow at
any seam".

Look at all you need from a great catcher:

* Hit for power or average...doesn't matter.
* Throw hard
* Throw quickly
* Throw accurately
* Be big enough to handle collisions
* Be smart enough to call a baseball game
* Have enough emotional intelligence to handle different kinds of pitchers


The only thing he doesn't need to be is fast, and so very few are fast.
