I think that if we are talking about teaching coptic in Egypt, we can
not be talking about building our own coptic language centres, if
people cant even build a chuch i think that the government would
stand with all its force infront of such projects.
However i think it is much easier to start with the kids in sunday
schools. If each sunday (or friday) kids learn only one coptic
sentence that can be used in the daily life they will learn each year
48 sentences minimum. They will even teach it to their parents.
For the grown ups maybe we can have like classes for "illiterates"
still inside the church.I dont think this will cost a huge amount of
money and the copts at this moment are eager to learn the language,
they are aware of its importance to their identity and culture.
The question is do we have enough "capable" teachers to teach the
daily use language not the church one?

Regards,
Maryame

You can not make a revival by one or two schools in churches. The
project can create its own funding from subscribers too.

for Coptic Hymnology and Isaac Fanous for Coptic Iconography for
example. This can be done if we all pull together and start a
renaissance. There are 5 Coptic Billionaires in the world the poorest
of which is worth $1.6 Billion. We have resources, we just don't know
how to use them...yet!

Ben-Yehuda, who revived the Hebrew language in the late 19th century
and almost 7 millions are speaking this language now. May be wealthy
Copts can support these efforts.

Shenouda Society for Coptic Studies, there is also the St Mark
foundation. The church here doesn't help much either. Anyway, if
anyone is interested, there is a Masters degree program in Macquarie
University in Ausrtalia. The program is completely online, and of
course history, art, music, language (sahidic, bohairic, fayoumic,
and akhmimic) and culture are all covered in the program. This is one
step we can take toward the awarness of our people of the rich
history and culture we posses outside of the arab culture.
