Well lets see, If you had a good working repeater, pulled the xtals, and 4
years later, put like xtals back in and did nothing else, then aside from
VERY minor touch up, it should come back flying.

If not, I would check all the voltages, and a little off on the -20 won't
hurt anything - just be sure there is nothing radical. Seems like the
power control is the screen supply, and I have had the 100 Ohm 2W fuse
resistor above the PA cage burn open once or twice.

If all the voltages are OK, ie 600v on the plate and around 250 or so on
the screen, and seems like -10 on the grid, then look for something failed
in the drive. When you get to a stage that doesn't tune properly you are
on the trail. I also have had a few varactor triplers go South as well.
Best fix is to find a used mobile for 25 bucks for so and swap it out.

If you put a meter across the 2 pins for plate current, remember BOTH LEADS
WILL BE AROUND 600 VOLTS ABOVE CHASSIS POTENTIAL. There is a lesson to be
learned here.

Best luck,

Steve

PS - at one time I had something like 10 or 15 pro repeaters going in 460
business - bought a pile of mobiles for spare decks and it was usually
easier to change the strip than fix it. Seems like Telepath in Fremont CA,
and several others had some stuff, but that was abt 10 years ago. I
changed out to Ericsson M3 and Johnson VX for the most part - got tired of
fixing repeaters and customers hollering.

Also, when you get the PA playing, an Advanced Receiver Research GASFET can
breathe new life into the front end.

Steve
