Bernie--- Home Depot sells a "resin paper" to the construction trade that is generally used to protect floors during a job. Unfortunately it comes in rolls about 5 in. dia. by about 3 feet wide but it is cheap and tough---I have used it for electrical fish paper. It's pink/brown in color and about half as thick as 15 pound roofing felt.
