The reason for doing that is that if the duplexer presents a short-circuit, said short-circuit won't appear at antenna port. Given the range of most duplexers, it would be unlikely that the cavity would cause such a situation to exist unless it were struck by lightning. -- Kris Kirby, KE4AHR Disinformation Analyst
